ChatGPT memory for EU and new models released

17/09/2024

I noticed about a week ago that ChatGPT has enabled its memory feature for EU users, no doubt after having finally navigated the data-retention rule minefield that is the GDPR.

I'm well impressed with it so far. As you chat with ChatGPT, it'll begin saying "memory updated" and summarise your prompt in a seperate screen called 'Memory' available under the personalisation settings menu. It's essentially a way for ChatGPT to remember facts and info about your conversations between seperate sessions.

Pretty cool stuff because now you can tell it to save or forget certain bits of info, so if you want to come back to a topic or project snippet to use as a jumping off point, you can.

Another interesting update is that there are now two new models to try out. They seem to be geared towards including more reasoning focused style questions that require more human-esque logic. Like, how many "R"s in the word strawberry or whether a hotdog is a sandwich!

01-Preview seems to be geared towards more indepth and advanced reasoning with a current limit of 50 messages per week.

01-Mini is a model that does faster, but probably not as indepth reasoning as 01-Preview. It currently has a limit of 50 messages per day.

New navbar update

16/08/2024

Spent like an hour today smashing my head trying to get the stylesheet update to work. I changed the stylesheet, tested, saw it seemingly wasn't working. I hammered at chatgpt about it to no avail trying both external stylesheets and in-line CSS.

Eventually I figured out that the issue was my browser caching the old stylesheet. Turns out I needed to do "ctrl + f5" to force a complete reload of the page, stylesheets included. That one really caught me off-guard, but I'm glad to have gotten it sorted!

So, a true "hello world!"

08/08/2024

So this is my first proper post on this website after getting all the bits and pieces set up. What is this website and how does it work?

I'm running the website using debian linux and apache2 web server running on a Google Cloud VM instance. I'm using no-ip.com's services to get a domain name (fuzzballnews.servequake.com), and then using LetsEncrypt's services to generate a signed HTTPS certificate so HTTPS works.

Now.. yes, HTTPS is a rather redundant thing because the website just serves out simple static webpages, and no sensitive user information passes from the web server to the user or vice versa. But in the modern age nowadays, I think HTTPS should be mandatory.

Other cool stuff about the website? It uses some very basic HTML5 reactivity tags so that the site will generally format nicely on mobile devices. I also used ChatGPT to help with server/dyndns configuration and with getting the layout correct and nice looking.

It's early days yet, but I hope to make good use of this set up to share my interests, thoughts, and hobbies!

W40K Horus Heresy audiobooks list and thoughts.

06/08/2024

Why this list?

I'm curating the following page so I can keep track of which Horus Heresy audiobooks I've listened to. Because quite frankly, there IS a lot of them! We're talking a 60 plus book series here. And that's not including the 8 or so books in the "Siege Of Terra" series.

The glorified list and my thoughts:

The list is available here

Hello world!

26/05/2024

Decided I'll actually start using this website to host my own online journal of all things Warhammer 40k games/books/lore, with a focus on keeping track of the audiobooks I've read, and any other odds and ends that interest me.
